Pooling fresh talent through Dhwanii

Been to a rock show and heard the cries, 'Pop is crap' and 'Film Music is junk'?
Of course a lot of commercial music that we hear, and watch on TV is junk.
But hey! Hang on there! Do you know that Indian film music has been climbing the UK top 10 charts quite often recently? What with sound tracks from 'Dil Se', 'Taal', 'Kandukondain Kandukondain' etc by Rahman being on par with any hit number by an international pop artist. Take a second look! How many websites did you come across with the news that Michael Jackson was seen sporting a T-shirt with a picture of Rahman and the message 'Salute to You'? And that Rahman has sold more records than Britney and Madonna put together?

I'm an aspiring music composer (also a doctor!) and I listen to international music of all genres as well. I still feel that our very own A.R. Rahman, Harris and Yuvan produce fresh music with a unique sound, mixed, edited and recorded on global standards. I happened to associate with a close friend and ex-band mate of Rahman (They had a music band in the 80's). He says Rahman keeps updating his music equipment and studio so that his music is always recorded with state-of -the -art technology. No doubt, Tamil and Indian Film Music have reached dimensions of global standards.

Dhwanii strives to promote fresh musical talent so that our regional music attains even higher standards and reaches further to farther nations. If you are an aspiring musician and wish to create a niche for yourself in Indian Music, let us know about it. Write to us about your musical talent, your experiences in music performances etc. Sooner or later, one of us would be a successor of Rahman or Harris one day. And the rest of us would still be creating unique Indian sound and putting India on the international music scene.

Let Dhwanii be your platform to showcase your talent. Speak out, young musicians. Write to us. Be a part of Dhwanii!
